We believe that health and wellness begin with equitable access to
health education, nutritious food, wellness experiences, and supportive care. Through compassionate services and evidence-based
programs, we empower individuals and families to overcome barriers,
improve health outcomes, and thrive within the communities they live.
Rooted in Wellness (RIW) is closing the gap and opening the
door to a healthier, more equitable future for everyone.

Rooted in Wellness (RIW) is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming lives through evidence-based health education, wellness experiences, nourishment, and community connection.

We believe every individual deserves the opportunity to live a healthier, more vibrant life—regardless of their background, circumstances, or access to resources. Through innovative programming, strategic partnerships, and evidence-informed education, we empower individuals, families, workplaces, and communities to take meaningful steps toward lifelong wellbeing.

At RIW, wellness is more than the absence of illness. It is the presence of knowledge, confidence, connection, resilience, and purpose.

Our programs focus on prevention and empowerment, equipping individuals with practical, evidence-based tools to take charge of their health. From personalized nutrition guidance and therapeutic cooking classes to stress management, movement, and peer-to-peer support, we help people build lifelong habits that support recovery, reduce the risk of recurrence, and promote long-term wellness.

At RIW, we believe wellness should be accessible, culturally sensitive, and rooted in dignity. By removing barriers and meeting people where they are, we empower individuals to transform their health—and their communities.

We don’t just teach wellness—we cultivate it. 🌱

Our Mission
Rooted in Wellness cultivates healthier, more resilient, and sustainable communities where individuals and families can thrive across generations. Guided by our four pillars—Education, Nutrition, Wellness, and Community—we expand access to nourishing food, provide practical and culturally responsive education, and create meaningful opportunities for connection. Through our Nourishment for Life: Food Is Medicine approach, we empower people to understand how food, daily choices, and supportive relationships can strengthen physical health, emotional wellbeing, and long-term resilience. By helping individuals build healthier habits and deepen their connections to self, family, peers, and community, we create a lasting foundation for lifelong wellness.
Our Vision
We envision a future in which every person—regardless of geography, income, background, or circumstance—has access to the knowledge, nutritious food, wellness resources, advocacy, and compassionate support needed to live a vibrant and healthy life. Through holistic education, preventive health practices, and our commitment to Transforming Mental and Behavioral Change, RIW seeks to reduce the impact of chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. We strive to transform communities by nurturing healthier mindsets, strengthening sustainable behaviors, advancing health equity, and supporting wellbeing throughout every stage of life.
Our Commitment
RIW is committed to meeting people where they are—with empathy, dignity, cultural sensitivity, and respect for each person’s lived experience. Through Advocacy and Supportive Care, we work alongside individuals, families, schools, and communities to remove barriers that limit access to nutrition, education, preventive care, emotional support, and opportunities for wellness. We listen, educate, nourish, advocate, and connect—ensuring that no one has to navigate the journey toward better health alone. Our commitment is not only to provide programs and resources, but to help people feel seen, supported, empowered, and equipped to create meaningful, lasting change in their lives and communities.
